New regulations are in effect as of January 1st, 2026. CO (carbon monoxide) alarms are mandated to be on every storey, (including basements/non-bedroom levels) and near all fuel-burning appliances (furnaces, fireplaces, water heaters, stoves, attached garages). Homeowners must ensure compliance by installing certified alarms and landlords must ensure rental properties meet these new regulations.

North Bay Fire & Emergency Services
North Bay Fire and Emergency Services provides a range of services to the citizens of North Bay extending from Prevention and Education to Emergency Response. Our suppression team provides an effective response to fire calls as well as medical emergencies, accidents, airside crash emergencies, confined space and trench rescue (awareness), ice / water rescue, snowmobile trail rescue, hazardous materials emergencies (operations plus) and CO (Carbon Monoxide) alarms. Our Fire Prevention division works hard to make our buildings safe to reduce the quantity and impact of fires. We teach fire prevention, fire safety and host tours in our three fire stations or around our community. Our efforts to promote, educate and enforce fire safety regulations has significantly reduced the number of serious fires and deaths due to fire.
